This magnificent score was composed by another legend in the music industry – the late, great Marvin Hamlisch. If you grew up in the 80’s, this light hearted children’s sci-fi film was almost mandatory viewing on cable since it was probably shown at least twice a day on HBO for the entire decade! This La-La Land fav features a memorable and beautiful score by one of Hollywood’s most diverse and talented composers. Also on this release is the film’s title song – SOMEWHERE I BELONG, written by Hamlisch/Pitchford and performed by Teddy Pendergrass. Jeff Bond takes the listener deep inside the film’s history and the scores’ creation as Dan Goldwasser’s sure hand at art direction makes the whole thing look good.

La-La Land Records proudly invites you to enter the beautiful musical world of signer/songwriter/musician Annie Harvey with the release of ANNIE HARVEY: DREAM MOTEL & PIECES OF ME. Having started writing songs in high school, Harvey signed with Triad Artists in 1979 and began touring the bluegrass circuit, opening for Doc Watson, J.D. Crowe, Seldom Scene and many others. She would later perform at McCabe’s Guitar Shop, the Troubadours of Folk Music Festival, and KPFK’s “Folkscene” & KPCC’s “Citybilly” radio shows. The 28 songs on this 2-CD SET were recorded from 1987 through 2010 and showcase Harvey’s wide range -- from bluegrass, country and folk, to rockabilly and smooth jazz. Featured musicians include Brantley Kearns (from Dwight Yoakum’s band), Bill Bryson (from the Desert Rose Band) and the late Dick Fegy. The sessions’ producers are Dick Fegy, Don Heffington, Duke McVinnie, John O’Kennedy and David Pearlman and the music has been mastered by James Nelson. The attractive digipak packaging, designed by Mark Banning, features exclusive liner notes.

Donc peut être le Williams, le Corigliano, même s'il s'agit d'une de mes béo culte, mon édition actuelle devrait suffire, et les deux autres... On verra...

Perso je recommade fortement le score d'Altered States qui illustre a merveille le film déjanté de Ken Russel, les visions fulgurantes fusent , le trip hallucinogène vous emporte sur une musique atonale
de circonstance. Pour les belles mélodies il faudra aller voir ailleurs.

Mais quelle puissance évocatrice !!!

L'empire du soleil??? Il y a de quoi remplir 2 CDs??? J'adore ce score, j'en pleure chaque fois que je l'écoute mais pour avoir vu le film plein de fois je n'ai pas souvenir qu'il manquait grand chose sur le CD d'origine…

Il est possible que le second CD reprenne l'ancien album en version "remasterisée", et le premier CD présenterait le score dans son ensemble? C'est presque systématique quand il s'agit de Williams.

Sinon c'est quand même une bonne chose cette réédition d'Altered States, l'ancien CD n'étant plus à prix abordable depuis quelques temps. Je me réjouis aussi de l'édition de D.A.R.Y.L., un score certes très teinté pop 80's, mais j'ai regardé le film tellement de fois quand j'étais gamin... Je suis curieux d'écouter ça après toutes ces années.

La Famille Addams ? Tout ou presque était sur la précédente édition, non ?

Je pense effectivement, comme Edern, qu'on aura droit à l'album remasterisé en second disque (avec sûrement quelques alternates en fin de programme), mais je suis très content pour cette sortie, car il manque quelques très beaux passages par ci par là. Bon après, je suis un inconditionnel de Williams, et surtout lorsqu'il travaille avec Spielberg alors pour moi la moindre note inédite est bonne à prendre !
En plus je ne m'y attendais pas du tout à celui-là.

Si Janus n'a pas à proprement parler le profil type du collectionneur fou se jetant la bave aux lèvres sur chaque sortie qui arbore l'estampille de La-La Land, il ne m'étonnerait point de le voir déroger à sa neutralité coutumière pour acquérir toutes affaires cessantes le génial, torturé, labyrinthique et donc parfaitement dans ses cordes, Altered States.

Reçu samedi mes 2 golldsmith DENIS et THE SUM. La qualité de pressage de Denis est très bonne et les morceaux en plus sont un vrai régals. Ce qui l'est encore plus c'est le pressage ultra dynamique de THE SUM. C'est a tomber par terre(contrairement à l'album) et le contenu dans sont intégralité est à couper le souffle (pour ceux qui aiment ce score, bien évidemment.

Vient de recevoir ce matin "Altered States" avec livret dédicacé ainsi que "D.A.R.Y.L". je vais écouter cela demain. Ce soir pas le temps !!!

Reçu égalemment hier le Corigliano dédicacé...très longtemps que je ne l'avais plus entendu et toujours aussi percutant : à écouter impérativement seul ou accompagné de personnes averties sous peine de voir florir les regards interrogateurs et les sourires gênés de la part des amateurs habituels de R'n'B' français !

Franchement, si tu aimes la musique de Giacchino, n'hésite pas ! Et les scores de Lenertz sont également très bons. Le CD que j'écoute le moins c'est celui de Djawadi, bien qu'il contienne aussi quelques très belles pistes. Franchement un excellent coffret, à ne pas manquer pour les fans de musique symphonique !

Oui, c'est du très bon. Aucun doute sur ça !
Mais si on ajoute les $27,50 de port, ça épice sérieusement la facture.
Perso, cela m'a vraiment calmé.
