Le palmarès complet des meilleures partitions et éditions pour 2017 selon les membres de l’International Film Music Critics Association (IFMCA) a été dévoilé ce jeudi 22 février. On aurait d’emblée parié indifféremment sur John Williams, Michael Giacchino ou Alexandre Desplat mais c’est finalement, et non sans une certaine surprise, Jonny Greenwood qui voit son approche raffinée pour le Phantom Thread de Paul Thomas Anderson honorée du titre de Meilleure Partition de l’Année. Pour le reste, c’est indéniablement Benjamin Wallfisch qui s’en sort avec les honneurs en parvenant à placer deux de ses musiques, pour A Cure For Wellness d’une part et Mully de l’autre, au sommet de leurs catégories respectives. Côté français, si Cyrille Aufort et Olivier Derivière doivent malheureusement s’incliner respectivement devant le britannique Christopher Willis et l’espagnol David García Díaz, Alexandre Desplat repart avec le titre très convoité de Meilleur Compositeur de l’Année tandis que le chypriote George Kallis s’impose comme la Révélation de l’Année.
